Normally I don’t participate in trans-centered holidays. We focus too much on the dead, rather than the ones who keep working hard to not just survive, but thrive. We focus too much on the out and visible, or those in the closet. We focus too much on those who pass, or those who don’t.

My thoughts are hypocritical—I see that. I’m still growing and evolving in my views from a “transgender vs transsexual” thinking, to one more inclusive. Not all of us are woke from the get-go!

Just because someone might not like our existence, that doesn’t give them a license to harass us, much less kill us. “Trans panic”, like “gay panic”, is absolute bullshit. We should not be bullied to the point we feel so worthless, that suicide seems like the only way out, or that our lack of existence ends up more beneficial than if we didn’t exist.

This past presidential term has been especially for trans folk, as the crimes against us keep rising.

We have to keep our hope alive. We have to keep fighting for our existence. We have to keep fighting so that our children, however they’re form, are not pigeon-holed into having to experience life one way or another, nor get bullied and killed for being themselves.

Let us mourn for our dead, but fight like hell for the living. Let our dead siblings not die in vein, that their deaths give us the fuel to make the future better for everyone. 🙏🏳️‍⚧️🕊
