“Trans” encompasses almost anyone who doesn’t identify with the gender assignment given to them at birth. It is the superset term that includes transgender, genderqueer/non-binary, agender, and other individuals who are transsexual, but refuse to undergo HRT and sex change surgeries.
More than mere gender variance, being trans leads to a condition known as “ gender dysphoria”, where you were born one sex, but wish to live as a member of the other.
The major difference between transsexualism and transgenderism is that transsexuals desire to undergo treatment to live as members of the opposite sex, whereas transgenders (usually non-binary or no-op) identify as a third- or alt-gender identity.

I keep my vagina not as a political statement, but due to medical mishap.
